Cavalier Improvement Project

The primary purpose of outcrossing the cavalier is to deal with specific genetic health issues, in particular Mitral Valve Disease (MVD) and syringomyelia (SM), both of which are extremely prevalent in the CKCS.  Not to mention the chronically high COI of every cavalier.

The ultimate goal is to increase genetic variation and improve health in the cavalier. We are working with a group of breeders in the USA & overseas to produce cavalier outcrosses that will hopefully help improve the health of this lovely little breed. You can find more information on the USA portion of the project HERE. You can find more information on the kennel club approved cavalier outcrosses in Finland, Norway, and Sweden HERE.

Turbo Companions is currently working on creating F1 Cavalier mixes with OFA CHIC Health tested parents, phenomenal temperament, and structure. Going forward my goal is to produce puppies who range from 40-60% Cavalier with smaller percentages of "other" breeds for added genetic diversity and health. We are avoiding adding breeds that have IVDD and brachycephalic heads.
